This coming Monday, April 4, will be our very popular Spring “Bring to Share” Dinner and Auction. This event has always been a lot of fun with many bargains for our members. Of course the Auction features the entertaining antics of Dennis Carrino. our famous auctioneer. Who knows what Dennis is going to say? We will of course reign him in as he tends to go on for a while…like all night! I think it’s because he is enjoying himself so much.
We owe a great thanks to our guest guides at our March dinner with Henry…Joe, Mark and Patrick…for their very informative presentations. Also, they are running a business and would welcome your as a charter with them. For those that didn’t get a card from them, Patrick’s number is 772-405-0091 for outside fishing; Mark’s number is 772-519-4632 for inside fishing; and of course we know were Henry (and Joe) can be reached.
I would like to remind you that when you have an e-mail, phone number, or status change, you need to inform George so you don’t get left out.
On the dinner scene we still have a problem of members signing up late, or signing up and then no-showing…all of which puts pressure on our efforts at food preparation. At this last dinner, some were told they weren’t allowed a guest. That is not correct. A guest may attend at a cost of ten dollars if there’s room or if they’ve signed up in a timely way. At our next board and committee meeting we will discus the possibility of cutting back on the number of dinners and lunches we have in order to reduce the pressure on that committee of trying to keep track.
We also need to give Ron a pat on the back for working so hard to put our Pompano event together. He has been hit by everything other than the world coming to an end (which almost happened with the rain and thunder and lightning, FINALLY, on the last cancelled outing this past Monday), messing up one plan after another this year. I am sure it will happen someday.
So I hope to see you at our April 4 dinner. And don’t forget our Key’s trip on April 10. Make sure you tell those that go, you like fish too and would welcome any they have to share on their return.
