As you read this, Sue and I will be on our bus and on our way to North Carolina, Virginia, New York, Indiana, and Michigan. This year we will again have our clam bake and try to get a photo of five generations. Also, I have been invited to the Co-HO golf event tournament in Traverse City Michigan.
We were in the Keys when the June dinner was put on and were sorry we missed it. All reports said Diane Foran did a great job as the new member of the food committee. The food she chose was great and well organized. I will also miss our next dinner as we will still be up north. However you can bet we will be at our great rib dinner in November.
In July we again participated in the Martin County reef tournament. We had three boats go; mine, John Pulley’s and Jim Costello’s with ten of our members. As always this was a great event and we again came close to the money. Fishing was tough because there was a cold water upwelling that pretty much shut down the bite. The food and prizes were great. Maybe next year we can bring winnings to our club.
We are working on another Bahamas’ fishing trip in October or November. Look for an e-mail invite to go.
I am proud of our Anglers’ Club which is the largest and most active Ballantrae club in our community. I am less proud when I send out a request for input on how we can improve our Anglers’ Club and I get zero response. Folks, I can use your input and because of our size we all can use your help. Any successful club needs people to step up to the plate and participate, and our Anglers’ Club is no exception. Please forward any comments you can think of that will help our Club become as good as it can be.
See you sometime toward the end of September. Keep in mind and look forward to our November Dinner Party and membership renewal.
Thanks, Captain Hal |
