The “Dog Days” of summer are here, the community appears deserted, the humidity is stifling, it’s very hot, and we dodge the Irene bullet, but relatively speaking this small patch of paradise is more comfortable than many of the places our members are visiting up north. Our captain is also away visiting his family, which is why yours truly is trying to pen the Captain’s Log this month.

It’s very weird sitting here listening to the weather reports, and as I’m writing this Irene has had its landfall in North Carolina, and still on a direct path for Ocean City, New York, and all of the places so many of us have been transplanted from.

With all of the above as a rational, there is very little to report about the fishing experiences of our members this month.  Ron Klowden has reported the only fish caught this month, and they were a pair of nice Snook from our own ponds, with one of them currently holding the size record for this year at 36 inches (see picture).

Bob Middaugh managed to catch some nice fish (see picture), 3 Tuna, a Mako release, and a White Marlin release, while summering in Maryland, but he will have to hunker down and go inland to get away from Irene.

Stay safe, all you snowbirds, we’re thinking of you.

Good fishin’………
