It’s September already…there goes another summer!

First don’t forget to call Holly (335-9033) to sign up for our Fall dinner. It’s at our own Santa Lucia River Club Clubhouse on Tuesday, Sept.11th.  Look elsewhere in this Newsletter for further details.  I regret I will not be there as I am on my trip north to visit.

The committee has been working hard, along with the captains of our boats, to make it easy for members to have the opportunity to go fishing. To our non-boating anglers, I am now asking for your input on how we get more of you to go out fishing. Our tournament for next year begins in November and is coming together nicely with the captains input.  Now I need yours. Please e-mail me at fctogether@aol.com, telling me what would make you want to go fishing and what you consider it would take to have a great day on the water.

Our 2007-8 tournament will be fee based – one low entry fee for the whole year!  So when the word goes out, I hope you will sign up and support your Anglers’ Club.  Fish whenever you want, and report all results for inclusion in the tournament.  Even if you don’t fish that much, our tournament pool goes toward prizes and awards to encourage fishing among all of our members.  The more who sign on, the better our incentives and the stronger our club remains.

Note that the annual fall mullet run should begin sometime in September.  For a month or two after that, the ocean and river is “flooded” with schools of glass minnows and finger mullet heading south.  Migrating tarpon, snook, bluefish, trout, redfish, mackerel, and many others are all there to take advantage of easy dinners in close to the surf and all over the river. Just walking the beach and seeing the action is exciting.  Call Paul Daly for surf fishing with the club.

Let’s all have a great year of fishing.

Thanks Hal
