That's where the flavorful odors of smoking fish can be smelled - wafting through the local Oxton neighborhood breezes. The culprit here is, as usual, Hal Fowler. For years Hal smoked his family's bacon (or is it that Hal smoked bacon for his family?) as well as their hams. At the time in Indiana, Hal had his own large wooden smoke house. Plus he used a special cure developed by his grandfather. So when Hal got here to Ballantrae, he built his own unique smoker (see picture). He then transferred all his smoking knowlege from meat to fish and VOILA! - delicious smoked fish to rival (and some say surpass) our local professional smokers over there in Rio. Great job, Hal! |

Captain Hal Fowler is retiring his boat, “Skamper”, from the Ballantrae fleet. He is replacing her with a 35’ Everglades, go fast fishing boat. The new boat can fish up to 6 anglers at a time, or carry 12 to party and see fireworks. The Bahamas are a mere one hour (or less) away using the three 300 Mercury super-charged Verodo engines (if the waters are smooth!).
Other great features of this “Stars & Stripes” blue center console beauty, include 2 pressurized bait wells, a refrigerated fish box, a potty, and underwater camera and lights!
But this poor boat has no name. SO: NAME THAT BOAT!… And you will win a free dinner.
All you need to do to win is to send Hal your suggested name by e-mail to:
Good Luck & Good Naming! |
