Fishing Report for:
Ft. Pierce – inshore.

INSHORE - The inshore fishing in general has been slow due to the dirty water conditions from all the rain run off. Even with all that going on the snook anglers that are putting in their time are reporting a few slot size fish. Most of the fish came from around the bridges and from the docks along the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Almost all of the snook were caught on a live mullet. There has been slim picking this past week when fishing for trout. The anglers that did catch a trout were lucky enough to find a small area with clean water and these area's change daily with the tides and rain -- you just have to ride and look for the clean water. There have only been a few trout reported and they were all 2 pounds or under and were caught on a live shrimp fished under a popping cork. There are still a few bottom fish being caught around the bridges and along the channel edges on a live shrimp. Look for the bluefish, spanish mackerel and plenty of jacks around and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet on the incoming tide.

OFFSHORE - The bottom fishing for the head boats has been steady up around the Northeast Grounds. There has been a good number of reports about snapper, grouper, sea bass and even a kingfish or two. I did get report of a few sailfish being caught and released in 125 feet of water to the south of the Power Plant. All of the sails were caught on ballyhoo. Look

for the kingfish in 60 to 80 feet of water and they have been feeding on live baits. I also had reports of scattered dolphin to 15 pounds in 180 feet of water straight out of the Ft. Pierce Inlet. The dolphin were hitting on a pink and white skirted ballyhoo. Along the beaches and around the Jetty there has been spanish mackerel, bluefish, jacks, a few snook and a few nice flounder.

TEEN ANGLERS - On Sunday -- October 21st the local chapter of Teen Anglers held their monthly inshore fishing tournament. The weather was not the best and the fishing was very slow but the Teen's did catch a few fish. In the Middle School Division there were no fish weighed in. In the High School Division 1st place went to Chris Matthy for his 4lb. 3oz. redfish 2nd place went to Tyler Moyer for his 1lb. 8oz. trout and 3rd place went to Dillon Roberts-Louria for his 1lb. 6oz. mangrove snapper. The tournament was sponsored by D.O.A. Lures. The next inshore tournament will be held on November 18th at Jaycee Park in Ft. Pierce. Once again I would like to say we are in dire need of boat volunteers to take these Teen's fishing.
