We have had a great start to our 2007-2008 Anglers’ Club season. Back when I was asked to become the Club’s Captain, and then assumed the job, it was because I had started getting anglers to go fishing. And at that time, I said my goal was to expand on that. I am so excited to report that everywhere I look there is fishing going on.
Our pond fishing has had up to twenty anglers attend. Our Keys trip is set for the 7TH, 8TH, and 9TH of January. As soon as the weather clears we will be heading for the Bahamas. And our Pompano outing is ready to go when the fish show up. There are anglers fishing our Marina docks. We will be going ocean fishing as soon as the weather is OK. We have several boats fishing the river on a regular basis now. We have about half of our club signed up for the yearly tournament.
How's that for being an active FISHING Anglers’ Club ?
Of course we are now looking forward to our January 14TH members’ dinner party , our March meeting with a speaker (and I hope it is again Henry), and our April Fish Dinner and Auction.
How's that for being an active SOCIAL part of our Club?
On another note we have had several additional members, other than the board and committee members, step up to the plate and help our club get better every year. We are grateful for the help from Ron Klowden with river fishing, Gerry Stevens with pond fishing, Paul Daly with surf fishing, John Ghee with our luncheon cruise, Roger Sandstrom and Bill Scalia on our Key's trips, and John Pulley with our Bahamas trips. Of course Bill Scalia should get a special thanks for recruiting most of these people.
We still need a member to step up and work on the Anglers’ Newsletter for George. George has been doing this since the club started and he is involved heavily in working on the board, dinners, 50-50 and a host of other things as well. I couldn't do what I have been doing for this club without his help. It is time someone steps up to help George….not to mention it’s a fun thing to do.
So someone please give George (337-0337) a call.
Good fishing and thanks,
