The Pompano Outing finally occurred on March 11, 2008.  The 1st attempt at this outing was in January and had several weather related delays but....  finally, 6 boats and 15 anglers (including Captains) put their lines in and attempted to catch the elusive Pompano.  There was a lot of comradery, laughter, some "ribbing" and all in all, it seems like a great time was had by all.

Only a few of us actually caught Pompano but a nice variety of Ladyfish, jacks, catfish, Sheepshead, Mackerel and even a couple of Shark  were boated by our anglers.

Bill Scalia boated the largest Pompano, a whopping 12" fish!   In spite of the variety of baits, lures, jigs and all the hardware known to man, a grand total of 4 Pompano were caught.

The Pompano remain the "winners" of this outing since most of them are still swimming around somewhere and not on our BBQ grills. Since my Kids are visiting and I promised them a fish dinner, I grilled a Mackerel, Sheepshead and 1 lonely Pompano.... The kids loved it!

Thanks to all the anglers and Captains who participated and those who were going to go on one or the other of our prior dates but could not this time. It is wonderful to run an event and get a fun loving group of anglers together for a good time.

Special thanks to Donn Bearman for all the weather advice and his fishing expertise.
