By the time you receive this Anglers Club Newsletter, our next year’s calendar will be set. Last month, I had asked for input from all members with regard to this calendar. As I received no responses, I guess I should be happy that you have so much confidence in your board and committees’ abilities to make all Club decisions for you. I think you will be pleased. I look forward to you getting involved in the various events and activities we have planned for the coming season.
We are currently beginning communication with other fishing clubs, like Martin County and St. Lucie County Angler’s Clubs and the like. The main reason for doing this is to have more people attend club functions. Other clubs have about six a year each, as we do, and the more people in attendance make it more worthwhile for the featured guests/speakers to want to come.
The Power Squadron is having a poker run on June 14th as a fund raiser. This will be a fun time. Everything is done by boat. What happens is that each boat goes on a run, stopping at 5 various points. A sealed card is given to each “entrant” at each point. When each entrant has all 5 cards, everyone meets at Wahoo’s to “play their hand” and have lunch. The best poker hand wins one half of all money bet. All are invited and can play; the cost is $10.00 per hand. I will be taking Hal-Raiser and will take anybody who wants to go.
We are also starting our trips to the Bahamas to fish. Some of them will be a trip over and back the same day. Look for an invite and sign up to have some fun.
Have a great month of fishing.
